Can home-based therapy help stroke survivors living with spatial neglect

Helen Morse, a PhD student at the University of East Anglia and a member of ABIRA, took part in a facebook Live event on 24th May 2022. The event took place during Stroke Awareness Month and Helen talked about her research to help stroke survivors living with spatial neglect (sometimes called spatial inattention). Spatial neglect affects one in three stroke survivors and happens when the brain doesn’t process the information it’s getting from one side of the body. If this happens, a stroke survivor might not be aware of anything on one side. For example, they might only shave one half of their face, or eat from one half of their plate.
